I love the still life genre and also collage.  I combine them by using collaged drawings as the basis for my paintings, making the images more abstract.  I’m using vintage and outsider art dolls as the basis for the  images. These dolls are not commercial, but unique and emblematic.  They serve as innocence-and-experience metaphors while their stimulation of childhood memories creates an emotional impact.

These works are a comment on the tumultuous state of our contemporary life.  The toys represent a simpler, less complicated time, juxtaposed against the animated, upbeat style of the work, which reflects the cultural expansion of our complicated modern lives.
