The paintings here are from a body of work made on pulp-dyed paper handmade by the artist. The paper pulp is laid down in diaphanous layers of harmonious colors. The effect is atmospheric. Droplets of paint disrupt this atmospheric harmony: they are disharmonious in color and anti-atmospheric in effect, like bullet holes in a pond. There is a tension between a sense of floating without location in space or time, and the sudden specificity of occurrence created by a drop of paint.
