My extensive photography background occasionally influences my subject matter. These particular paintings are inspired by several 50’s snapshots I found in an antique store in upstate NY. I was intrigued by the ironic combination of the images’ specific souvenir-like documentation of very personal experiences or events juxtaposed with their (now) lack of information and resulting total anonymity. The self-consciousness of the poses harkens to universal, internal memories of seemingly simpler times.
