These ceramic sculptures capture dissociated thoughts and emotions from the collective unconscious. The tableaus create abstract narratives in Haiku like language associations. The work is influenced by my practice as a psychoanalytic therapist and my interest in Surrealist and Symbolist art. Schadenfreude, from the German word that depicts a state of satisfaction derived from others misfortune, consists of a pile of hardened magenta roses, symbols of sentiment and love. Black and white tendrils grow from a white matte sphere while a perverse and aggressively chatty bird skull on a pole presides over the scene. The pole rests on a cartoonish shape that could be a tongue or an abstract human figure.
